1. What's in a Surfpark?
A typical Surfpark will have a Pro Surf Pool, a Training Pool, and a Bodyboarding Pool. The Bodyboarding Pool makes a perfect introduction to riding waves, with 2-3 footers that are easy to ride, with no ocean or surfing experience necessary. The Training Pool is a real Surf Pool used for teaching beginners how to surf and novices to improve their technique. Waves in the Training Pool will be slow, peeling 3-4 footers, perfect for learning. The Pro Pool is for intermediate to pro-level surfers/bodyboarders and offers waves from 4-8 foot and rides up to 100 yards. The "reef" in these pools is adjustable via computer, allowing near infinite variation in wave style, from full barrels to more performance-oriented waves.
In colder regions, a Surfpark will be covered by a roof or enclosed in a climate-controlled building, providing four-season warm-water operation. A Surfpark will also have all the complementary amenities you might expect: surf shop, surf school, restaurant, and plenty of space for viewing the action, private functions, concerts, and other special events.
