Peter Townend
The 1976 Surfing World Champion, PT is an admitted wave-pool fanatic, having toured and given surfing demos at numerous wave pools around the US during the Eighties. PT spent a good part of the past decade at Surfing Magazine, and was most recently Publisher of Editorial and Marketing at Primedia's Action Sports group (Surfing, Surfer, SG magazines, among others), which put him at the helm of a lion's share of American surfing media. Townend recently left Primedia and co-founded ActivEmpire, an action sports consultancy which retains Primedia's ASG as it's premier client.
PT also currently serves as coach of the USA Surf Team.
Townend was recently selected by OC Metro, the Orange County Business Lifestyle Magazine, as one of "OC's Most Influential Sports Figures." With unmatched relationships with the leaders of the surf industry and the pro athletes, PT will provide critical insight and assistance in promoting and pulling off Surfpark special events.
